Publisher is going away.
Your files don't have to.

PubConvert's engine was built from scratch for Publisher files. Turn your newsletters, flyers, menus, certificates and more into PDFs, or files you can edit in Word, InDesign, Affinity and LibreOffice.

  1. Drop a file. It renders in the preview panel, page by page.
  2. Check it looks the way you remember. Fonts, pictures, tables, text wrap, page order.
  3. If it's right, buy full access once: $49, tax included. Then convert as many files as you like to PDF, Word, IDML or ODG, up to 20 files and 2 GB per job.

Your file is deleted when the conversion or download finishes; abandoned jobs within one hour.

An engine built for Publisher files.

PubConvert reads the .pub format directly with its own renderer, written from scratch in Rust. It is compared page by page against Publisher's own output on real documents and updated when it doesn't match. Publisher is still the gold standard for its own files; the goal is to close the gap.

What the engine handles:

  • WordArt keeps its shape, including text on a curve
  • Tables keep borders, fills, alignment, including calendars
  • Classic clip art renders instead of disappearing
  • Gradients and picture effects survive
  • Multi-page documents in the right page order
  • Rotated and flipped shapes land where they belong

I built PubConvert for my friends and family.

Some have a career's worth of publications in Microsoft Publisher. Others have a family cookbook, updated over years. I want their files to open correctly, every time.

Publisher users each relied on a different corner of the program, so no small set of features covers most files. I test the engine against real documents, compare its output to Publisher's, and fix what doesn't match.

PubConvert is not finished. The engine updates below are the record of that.
